Personal Assistant/Carer, Hinckley area of Leicester LE10 LCHCC2003 – 12 hours per week

I am a 33-year-old disabled person living independently in my own home.

I have a complex medical and neurodivergent profile including autism, ADHD, OCD, sensory processing differences, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, POTS, chronic pain, CPTSD and anxiety.

I am a creative, community engaged person who values music, autonomy, humour and authenticity. I live a varied and sometimes busy life and am looking for the right PA to support me to maintain independence, access the community, and improve my overall life satisfaction and full potential.

I particularly welcome applicants who are affirming of LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent and disabled identities. An understanding that meltdowns can sometimes happen and that I am always trying my best, even though my capacity varies significantly day to day. This is important.

Flexibility is essential. Whilst hours will predominantly be daytime sometimes this may differ and hours could be arranged ad-hoc depending on my health and appointments.

Potential for hours to increase in future depending on needs and funding

Because of autism and sensory processing differences, I benefit from support workers who are:

Patient and calm

Clear and direct communicators

Able to recognise signs of overwhelm

Recognise a autistic person home is their safe space.

Comfortable with alternative communication methods if I become non-verbal

Respectful of autonomy and boundaries.

Trauma-informed and neuroaffirming approaches are essential.

 Values & Compatibility

I am a punk, feminist, queer, polyamorous, disabled artist. Who love music, especially brass and dancehall. I love being busy, i just wish my body knew that. It is important that my PA is respectful and comfortable working within an LGBTQIA+ affirming and non-judgemental environment.

Applicants must be inclusive, respectful and safe to work with across diverse identities and backgrounds.

You do not need to share my identity but you must be genuinely open-minded, understanding, kind and respectful and inclusive across all walks of life that may differ from our own. Equality, diversity and inclusion mean a lot to me.
