Carer/Personal Assistants required, Leicester LE4 NOTPA2906 – 24 ¾ hours per week
I’m 31 years old black African British female, parents are from the Ghana but I grew up in the UK.
I worked as an English lecturer for 16 to 18 years in further education colleges in Kettering and also in Leicester. I love to read nowadays and live a very simple life. I love to crochet and anything creative.
I have a lot of health conditions mainly inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, rheumatoid arthritis, mobility problems, partially blind in the left eye and partially deaf in my right ear. I have an ileostomy so my Personal Assistant would need to be comfortable around it, training will be given to help me change when I have flares or if I am unwell to do it myself.
I have mental health problems - generalised anxiety disorder, OCD, depressions and low mood, medical ptsd. I do suffer with panic attacks so when I do get anxious it would be good to have support in calming down so someone experienced in deescalating would be good. I like things in my house to be done in a certain way and due to my lack of vision to clean it not to let me find it and then for it to trigger my ocd and anxiety.
I advocate for disability rights and talk about my conditions and bring awareness to this. I have worked with charities such a Crohn’s and Colitis UK and have been the face of their rebrand and also in the newspaper. I got into this after my surgery and when I left my job due to my health declining rapidly.
